Characteristics

A unique, sensory film-former based on polysaccharides (complex sugars) from the blue agave. A natural active ingredient that produces an outstanding gliding effect in water-based formulations and greatly improves the skin feel of the product.

While searching for a natural raw material that protects the skin from drying out, we discovered the blue agave. The blue agave is accustomed to a semi-arid climate and has the ability to store over 60% sugar as a energy reserve in its stem. The molecules can bind water in the cells and thus reduce evaporation.

Agasilk consists of maltose and the polysaccharide from the blue agave. In our tests, we found that agave not only smooths wrinkles incredibly quickly, but this effect also lasts for hours. It gives face and body creams an incredibly silky application feel.

Agasilk is perfect for use in facial care products. After application, the product leaves a noticeable film on the skin that smooths fine lines and visually softens minor imperfections through a soft-focus effect. Furthermore, a mattifying effect ensures that shine on the skin is reduced. This makes Agasilk suitable for all skin types.

But products for the body also benefit greatly from the addition of Agasilk. The application behavior of body lotions is greatly improved, the texture of the emulsion appears silkier, and the skin ultimately feels noticeably softer and better cared for.

Usage concentration and processing

• 0.1 – 0.2% to improve sensory properties and spreadability on the skin

• 0.25% for a visible concealing effect of wrinkles

• 1.2 – 2% for a mattifying effect

• simply dissolve in the water phase; can be pre-dispersed in glycerin, propanediol, or glycols - not heat-sensitive
