Characteristics

Special antioxidant made from mixed tocopherols, ferulic acid, and Bavarian hop extract dissolved in organic sunflower oil. Reliable product protection and active ingredient in one!

Lipids (e.g., oils, butters, and waxes), fat-soluble active ingredients, and other fat-soluble substances can oxidize (become rancid) over time due to oxygen in the air. To slow down this oxidative process, so-called antioxidants are used. A popular antioxidant is tocopherol (vitamin E). It scavenges free radicals and thus protects, for example, oils or our skin cells—but in doing so, it oxidizes itself and becomes inactive. However, "tocopherol" is actually a generic term for different substances. For instance, "gamma-tocopherol" is used for product protection, while "alpha-tocopherol" is an excellent active ingredient for skin protection, but does not protect the product.

Anti-Ox Emulsion contains mixed tocopherols and is therefore the ideal protection for both product AND skin. Furthermore, it contains ferulic acid and hop extract, which can regenerate tocopherol and thus reactivate it. In this way, the duration of effectiveness is extended and protection is significantly improved. This is particularly important when sensitive oils are used—e.g., cold-pressed plant oils. These often have only a short shelf life and can also cause finished products to oxidize faster when used. Pure tocopherol is sometimes not enough here to guarantee good product shelf life.

Anti-Ox Emulsion is specially designed for use in emulsions, has a light color (does not stain the emulsion), and has no unpleasant odor. It should not be missing from any emulsion!

Note: Over time, the ethyl ferulate contained in this product may crystallize. This is noticeable by small crystals at the bottom of the bottle. If this happens to you, place the bottle on a radiator or in warm water until the crystals dissolve again.

Recommended concentration and processing

• 0.5 - 2% in emulsions - depending on the oxidative sensitivity of the lipids used

• stir into the finished emulsion at below 45 degrees

• can be heated along with the oils to protect sensitive oils from heat—however, temperatures above 70 degrees, as well as holding the temperature for long periods, should be avoided
