Characteristics

Sodium Myristoyl Glutamate is an anionic surfactant that is also based on plant-derived fatty acids and the amino acid glutamic acid. Compared to Sodium Lauroyl Glutamate, it has a longer-chain fatty acid, which makes it an even milder surfactant. This results in an especially creamy, fine-pored foam that feels very pleasant on the skin. Due to the longer carbon chain, however, the cleansing effect of Sodium Myristoyl Glutamate is somewhat lower.

Therefore, it is often used in combination with other surfactants such as Sodium Lauroyl Glutamate to achieve a balanced mixture of cleansing power and skin friendliness. Sodium Myristoyl Glutamate is an excellent choice, particularly for sensitive skin and hair, as it is gentle on the skin and leaves it feeling well-cared for.

Sodium Myristoyl Glutamate is also available in fine powder form and is suitable for both dry products such as shampoo bars, shower bars or cleansing powders, as well as for liquid products. In liquid formulations, it should be pre-dissolved in hot water before processing to ensure optimal incorporation.

Thanks to its high purity, Sodium Myristoyl Glutamate is particularly well-tolerated and suitable for hypoallergenic formulations. When combined with other surfactants, it can improve the foaming properties and skin-caring effect of the final product without irritating the skin. It particularly shows its strengths in facial products, where it cleanses gently and leaves a silky, supple skin feeling.

• 5 - 20 % in cleansing bars and powders
