Characteristics

Hyaluronic acid is arguably the most popular active ingredient we know of at present, as it can store incredible amounts of moisture. However, we are only imitating our body when we use it as an active ingredient. Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in connective tissue and in our skin - as a moisture reservoir. It binds water and keeps our skin firm and plump.

Our body is constantly producing new hyaluronic acid and breaking down the old; it is therefore a metabolic process like many others in the body. The enzyme "hyaluronidase" allows the body to "cut" the long hyaluronic acid molecule chains into smaller fragments and excrete them.

With age, however, less hyaluronic acid is produced, which is one of the reasons for natural skin aging and its signs. Under sunlight, the activity of hyaluronidase is even stronger, and thus the degradation of hyaluronic acid. In fact, UV radiation is considered one of the main factors of premature skin aging.

Sunwell aims to combat UV-related skin damage and consists of two time-tested plant extracts. These were carefully selected, combined, and re-examined for their effect on the skin:

Marshmallow root extract: Contains polysaccharides and mucilages that have a soothing effect and prevent redness. In addition, the skin barrier is strengthened, thus protecting the skin from excessive moisture loss.

Horsetail extract: Contains silicon and silicon compounds that are able to inhibit the effect of "hyaluronidase." In this way, "sun damage" is minimized and the moisture reservoirs in the skin remain largely intact.

Sunwell is ideally suited for use in sun care and day care products and, due to its easy water solubility, is very easy to incorporate. But it can also score points in after-sun and night care products thanks to its regenerating properties. It offers a good opportunity to increase the hyaluronic acid content of the skin - not through external application, but by protecting the body's own hyaluronic acid.

Sunwell can also be specifically combined with high- and low-molecular hyaluronic acid for maximum effect in this regard.
