Characteristics

This ultra-silky base oil is excellently suited for feather-light formulations for all skin and hair types and is versatile in its application.

Emulsions and oil formulations that contain a high proportion of plant oils can sometimes feel heavy, sticky, or oily, or be difficult to spread on the skin. This is where, among other things, high-spreading lipid components or silicones (e.g., cyclomethicone) can help. They ensure that the texture of heavier oils is "thinned" and that the final product can be spread more easily on the skin. This also creates a "fast-absorbing" sensation.

Liposens is a classic high-spreading ester and can be considered a replacement for cyclomethicone in terms of skin feel. It spreads effortlessly on the skin, dries quickly, and leaves behind a barely greasy, yet silky-nourished feel. In this, it surpasses other widely used, high-spreading esters such as Coco-Caprylate, Isoamyl Laurate, or Ethylhexyl Olivate, which spread similarly well but feel somewhat oilier on the skin.

Liposens is therefore predestined for the lightest formulations and can also be used in care products for oily skin, as it does not leave a greasy film, is non-comedogenic, and does not cause shine.

However, it can also be sensibly formulated into cosmetic products for dry skin. In body lotions, it ensures good application properties, allowing other nourishing oils to reach where they are needed quickly. The final product absorbs faster and leaves behind a pleasant, lightly nourished film.

Liposens has a similar effect in hair products. It simultaneously ensures improved combability, yet acts in a barely greasy manner and—when dosed appropriately low—maintains the hair's volume.

Liposens is also a good solvent for oil-soluble substances (active ingredients) and prevents them from recrystallizing. This is particularly important for dissolving organic UV filters. But Liposens can also help with the successful dissolution of other substances such as salicylic acid or plant butters.
