The hyaluronic acid with a magnetic effect!
Chemically, hyaluronic acid is a polysaccharide, a long-chain complex sugar. High-molecular hyaluronic acid consists of particularly long-chain molecules. It is an excellent gelling agent and can bind up to 1000 times its own weight in water. As a cosmetic active ingredient, it binds a large amount of moisture, retains it for a long time, and leaves the skin feeling pleasantly soft. Furthermore, as a gelling agent, it thickens the aqueous phase and is therefore also used to increase viscosity.
Normally, hyaluronic acid is anionic (negatively charged), like many other gelling agents (e.g., Xanthan, Sepinov WEO, or Sepimax Zen). The surface of our skin and hair is also negatively charged. This is precisely why cationic substances are often used in hair care to achieve a targeted adhesive effect. In this way, it is possible to incorporate active ingredients even into rinse-off products that can adhere to the surface after rinsing and develop a lasting care effect.
Through chemical modification, it is also possible to make hyaluronic acid cationically (positively) charged. This allows it to be used in cleansing products such as shampoo, wash gel, or shower gel. Cationic hyaluronic acid has the following advantages:
- Improved adhesion to negatively charged surfaces: Since many biological tissues and cells are negatively charged, cationic hyaluronic acid adheres better to these surfaces and has a long-lasting moisturizing and smoothing effect.

Prolonged effect: Cationic hyaluronic acid can provide longer-lasting moisture and protection for skin and hair because it adheres like a magnet.
- Antimicrobial properties: The cationic charge can help inhibit the growth of microbes on the skin, which can provide additional benefits for skin health.
It is important to note that cationic and anionic substances often cannot be combined because they attract and neutralize each other. This can lead to clumping, for example. Cationic hyaluronic acid is therefore perfectly suited for use in combination with cationic emulsifiers, which are commonly used as an active ingredient in hair conditioners, e.g., Careblend Supreme.

- Disperse (mix thoroughly) in propanediol, glycols, alcohol, or glycerin and add this mixture to the water phase
