A natural acid for adjusting the pH value in cosmetic products and for producing household cleaning agents.

Citric acid is produced biotechnologically through the fermentation of sugars. It is easily water-soluble and is primarily used in cosmetics to lower the pH value of a product. However, it also belongs to the AHA acids (fruit acids) and can also be used as a keratolytic (skin-peeling) active ingredient for a mild peeling effect.

In the household, it provides great service for dissolving limescale without spreading an unpleasant odor. Furthermore, it is very easily biodegradable. However, the contact time is longer than with conventional limescale removers.
