Characteristics

As effective as conventional synthetic anti-dandruff agents.

Scaly scalp is often a stubborn problem that frustrates many people; men, in particular, suffer from it more frequently due to hormonal factors. Regardless of whether it is caused by seasonal changes, stress, or other factors, the main issue is usually a disturbed balance on the scalp.

Those affected often suffer from an itchy, irritated, and red scalp as well as excessive shedding of skin cells, which is also unsightly and visible in the hair and on the shoulders.

Dandruff can occur with both oily and greasy scalps; it is caused by the yeast "Malassezia Furfur", which occurs naturally on our skin. Problems arise when the natural skin flora becomes unbalanced and the yeast is able to multiply rapidly. It breaks down skin lipids into free fatty acids and oxidized degradation products that can irritate the skin.

Stress, diet, environmental factors, and genetics influence our microbiome. It is important to maintain a healthy microbiome rather than eliminating all microorganisms with germicidal agents.

Squamasoft acts specifically against yeasts of the Malassezia species, particularly those most relevant to dandruff formation. It is a natural ester oil consisting of the humectant propanediol and the short-chain fatty acid "caprylic acid". On the scalp, Squamasoft is mistakenly recognized by Malassezia strains as sebum lipid and is therefore split into two molecules.

Propanediol has a moisturizing effect and protects the skin from dehydration and excessive microbial growth. Caprylic acid has a germicidal effect and reduces the yeast. With regular use, Squamasoft reduces scalp problems such as

• itching,
• sebum production,
• and dandruff formation.

Squamasoft is as effective as the commonly used antifungal agent "climbazole" and also works in shampoos. Due to its oily properties, Squamasoft adheres to the scalp and has a mild lipid-replenishing effect. It is therefore also suitable for dry skin conditions, although it should be dosed with caution for oily scalps. In shampoos, it also improves properties such as

• viscosity,
• foam volume,
• and skin feel.

The usage concentration of Squamasoft is 0.5 - 1% in shampoos and 0.2 - 0.3% in serums and tonics. It can also be used with other anti-dandruff agents such as salicylic acid.

In leave-on products such as scalp serums, Squamasoft can be combined with supporting active ingredients such as CBD-Balance, AloeFerment or Holobiotik to create holistic, regulatory concepts for a healthy scalp.
