Mineral Sunscreen Basic

A lightweight sunscreen product based on special mineral pigments, which provides transparent protection.

Difficulty level: ⭐⭐⭐ advanced

Production time: ⏱ approx. 40 minutes

The formulation as a W/O emulsion results in good pigment distribution and inherent water resistance.

Estimated SPF*: 25

SolarZinc provides broad-spectrum sun protection while maintaining maximum transparency. EmuLite and Sheerbond form a light yet protective W/O emulsion and provide water resistance. Lipoblend Hydrosoft ensures optimal distribution of the pigments in the oil phase. Sunwell protects the skin from sun-induced skin aging.

Instructions

Weigh out A and stir until all ingredients are dissolved

Adjust pH value to approx. 5.2

Weigh out B1 and heat to over 70 degrees until Flexibond is dissolved

Immediately add B2 and stir

Mix to thoroughly disperse the pigments

Add A to B in small portions (approx. 8 - 10 times) and homogenize thoroughly each time

The cream will become increasingly firm and must be mixed more thoroughly each time

Once the entire phase A has been homogenized, homogenize briefly one more time

Important note:

*) An exact SPF can only be determined by means of in vivo tests in a laboratory. The estimated SPF is based on the theoretical, calculated calculation by the application concentration. However, the overall formulation and the processing method are also essential for the actual SPF, and this may deviate significantly under certain circumstances. Water resistance and rub resistance are also verified by independent institutes. Therefore, we cannot provide any guarantee for the actual protective effect of this product and advise cautious handling of UV radiation.

TIP:

This W/O emulsion is actually stirred cold. Only Flexibond needs to be melted; the remaining ingredients do not require heat to be processed. Adding B2 cools the hot phase B1, allowing the Flexibond to form its firm structures. By stirring in the cold water phase (A), the fat phase also becomes increasingly viscous and the emulsion gains stability. However, W/O emulsions generally gain consistency as the water phase increases. Therefore, it becomes increasingly demanding to work in the water phase sip by sip, and it must be stirred carefully.
