Who are you?

My name is Daniela Kirchweger, I am 35 years old and a mother of 3 children. I live in Aschbach in the beautiful Mostviertel region.

What do you do? 

I have been an independent cosmetic manufacturer since 2017 and have specialized in plastic-free cosmetics.

How did you get into natural cosmetics? When my first son was born in 2009, he struggled with dry skin. I became increasingly involved with natural oils and ingredients and attended various courses. In 2016, I quit my job as an office clerk, subsequently completed training as a cosmetic manufacturer in Vienna, and graduated successfully.

What inspires you as a person and in your work?

I am particularly inspired by the development and production of natural cosmetics. There are so many great natural raw materials that I didn't know about before. Through Innometics, a whole new world of cosmetic manufacturing has revealed itself to me. How easy it actually is to handcraft high-quality cosmetic products that are good for people and nature, do not harm the environment, and provide a great deal of care. Of course, it requires a certain level of know-how, but with every product I develop, I learn all the more.

Your biggest natural cosmetics "oops" moment?

My biggest natural cosmetics "oops" moment was at the beginning when I started mixing cosmetics. My first cream with water, so to speak. I picked a simple recipe from the internet, ordered the raw materials, and was so proud that it worked perfectly right away. Well, after a few weeks, the cream unfortunately developed mold on the surface. I had to throw the cream away.

Due to often ambiguous promises from the cosmetics industry, I initially thought that cosmetics containing water did not need to be preserved. Which taught me otherwise.

A "learning" that you can share with us?

Read good books, such as the natural cosmetics raw material book by Heike Käser. Attend good, high-quality courses, join DIY groups on Facebook, and, of course, stir, stir, and stir again.

Your favorite INNOMETICS raw material?

There are, of course, very, very many. I absolutely love both Lipoblend products, as they are easy to process and leave behind a wonderfully soft, nourished skin feel. Waxblend is also a great, easy-to-process raw material for lip care. Anti OX is also highly recommended. With these two raw materials, I protect both my high-quality, sensitive, native oils and, on the other hand, the end product from premature oxidation. Of course, packaging and proper storage also play a major role.
